Recipe: Homemade Salsa

Simple and delicious. Also an excuse to pull out my food processor! (Legitimately my favorite appliance after my mixer) Sometimes I choose recipes based on the fact that I just want to use the food processor.

Notes about this recipe: I call for jalapenos but you can opt out for a milder salsa OR substitute for another pepper such as chili peppers.

Dried cilantro can be used in lieu of fresh as if you are a gardener, your cilantro was probably done months ago.

Garlic lovers: I call for one clove of garlic but you measure that shit with your heart.

This delicious salsa adds kick to any dish or appetizer! Alter it to the spiciness that you crave and cater your veggies if you want. I'm a sucker for peppers so I cram as many peppers into my recipe as I can!

Be sure to Sterilize your Jars before canning the salsa. This will ensure it will be preserved.

Strawberry Rhubarb Jam

It's rhubarb season! This tart vegetable grows like a weed in my yard so I am always blessed with a bag full of beautiful stocks.

The first thing I was inspired to make was a big batch of strawberry rhubarb jam.. For some reason I was inspired to start making it at 10pm on a Sunday night? Who needs to be ready for a Monday morning anyways? Pffft Overrated.

I had convinced myself that I had cursed myself to a very long night of jam making however I was pleasantly surprised when the whole thing only took 50 minutes from the start of sanitizing to the finishing of bottling. I used repurposed Classico pasta sauce bottles that my mother had given me (never noticed before that they say "Mason" right on them and they fit the mason jar lids perfectly! This excited me almost as much as getting the rhubarb! And will be the subject of many more activities in the near future!
