Making Use of Your Instax Camera

Making Use of your Instax Camera.jpg

My Instax Mini 8 has been a staple in my house for years now but I’ve always struggles with a good use for it. Doing my best to run a low/ zero waste household I try to make sure every item that comes into the home has a contributing job. My gorgeous purple Instax camera has always been there, skimming by with the thought that “someday it’ll come in handy..” I hate thinking that way… But it’s purple so… Here we are.

I recently have upped my game on digitizing my recipes so they can be easily shared, with that has come frequent making of my favorites. It hit me that the Instax camera is a great way to get a visual on my recipes to reference to when making them again.

Call it my recipe journal, now with pictures!

Are the photos perfect? No

Do they bring quality? Also no.

Will anyone other than me appreciate the visual in my recipe books? Considering I have no children to pass them down to and I’m not overly confident the next generation have a fighting chance due to climate change … That’s once again a No. But hey, I like it.

Halloween Charcuterie Board

Impress your friends this fall with a Halloween themed charcuterie board!

I used a skeleton from my halloween decoration lot (most likely from Michael’s originally), gave it a bath for food safe purposes and gently removed his limbs- I was lucky they were in with screws and pins that could be easily removed.

I probably had too much fun with the bath but I mean you can’t be too careful when it comes to food safety!

For the board, I chose sliced baguette, garlic butter, strawberries, grapes, plums, brie, mini mozzarella wheels, sliced pepperoni and various deli meats and garnished with some fresh parsley.

I am declaring that your charcuterie board can be anything you desire however. Just consider the colour choices for aesthetics.

I also made a small plate for those who aren’t ready to embrace the spooky just yet, same ingredients just less skeleton.
