As I've been waiting for the spring thaw to arrive i’ve been enjoying completely disassociating from what’s happening in the world.. And finding joy in rummaging through my book collection.
Today’s book was a trip back in time with New Rules by Bill Maher
Published in 2005 right in the thick of the Iraq war and technology advancements.
Some rules still apply today, it’s scary how little has changed in the US in 20 years… but there’s also been progress.
This page made me snicker with the cute play on words and the rant underneath it making Bill sound like a cranky old man.
A lot of God and gay references. Like a lot.
This is what I mean by little has changed.
This image just made me giggle
I feel like his heart was in a good place with this rant. I think? Just everything about it needs rewording for the modern day.
I would love to give our different treats over the holidays! But alas, capitalism.
I’m keeping the pages I liked and sending the rest to recycling. That was (most likely) a mass produced book from 20 years ago, it’s better if it becomes an egg carton at this point.
I plan to use the kept quotes to inspire some creative writing projects in the future!
