Little Litter Art

I wanted to spruce up the critters bathrooms with some art (that lockdown life- but I think I’ll miss the free time)

I found little canvases at Michaels Arts and Craft and used Pinterest as inspiration for some designs. They’re all a little silly, and far from perfect but I enjoy the finished products.

My Nova Scotia Book Tour: Stop Two- LaHave River Book Store

Welcome back my reader!

I'm excited to talk about my new summer project that is currently in progress. I’m calling it My Nova Scotia Book tour- my goal is to hit up as many independent book stores as possible this summer (and probably into fall)

There is only one rule: Purchase at least one book at each location.

My second stop was one with a million dollar view- The LaHave River Book Store in LaHave NS

Located behind the LaHave Bakery, it definitely has the best view in town, to the left is the LaHave Ferry and to the right is just beauty for miles.

The book store has both new and used titles plus a section with free books, which although I did not partake I was very excited to see. Accessible literature is just a wonderful thing to see!

LaHave also has multiple art and pottery shops to check out in the area, I really wish I had the time to check out more but today at least inspired me to return soon.

I left with a combination of books (again lol) including fiction, non fiction and a journal that had been made from upcycled children’s book covers.

Prices for the used books were either $5 or $10 with just a subtle and easy-to-remove sticker on the spine to indicate the price.

New of course were cover price (ouch) but I really wanted the books I got.

I talked with the cashier about my project and she gave me a couple of suggestions on where to head next which I always appreciate! We also chatted about how she’s still getting the hang of the check-out systems- didn’t help that I bought new and used which had different check-out procedures LOL oops… She figured it out though and all was well.

FICTION: French Exit by Patrick Dewitt, The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morion

NON-FICTION: Birds of Nova Scotia (I have so many birds in my yard it will be nice to be able to identify them by something other than their colour..) Peace by Chocolate

UPCYCLED JOURNAL: This journal comes with a cover from a children’s book that “lived a full life” and includes 70 sheets of post-consumer recycled paper. No clue what it’s destiny will be with me yet but I’m very happy to have it.
